The Hub just showed “The Last Roundup”, which is one of my favorite MLP episodes because Applejack Best Pony, and I had to turn it off because it was the Focus Group Cowardice Remix version that “corrected” Derpy even though there was never anything wrong with her. Fuck the entire ableist attitude that people with disabilities should be hidden away and invisible. Fuck that shit hard. I am so very sorry that being forced to acknowledge the existence of people who just can’t do or be certain things somehow offends your delicate normalcentric sensibilites, assholes, but someone not being able to focus their eyes or their mind on something does not make them any less of a person. Person in a wheelchair who makes you feel uncomfortable because now you have to think about bad things maybe happening to you even though you consider yourself  “good people” who should somehow only deserve nice things from the dice rolls of the universe? Still a person. Mentally disabled person with a speech impediment, who can’t keep complex thoughts for more than a moment and makes you uncomfortable because you can’t think of a way to talk to them like a human being without using the talking-to-animals voice or treating them like they can’t think at all? Still a person. Get it through your fucking heads that the lives of other people do not exist for the sole purpose of validating your existence.

In-universe? How the hell do you think people in a world which is specifically dedicated to loving and accepting everyone regardless of their situation would deal with a mentally disabled person? Probably not by trying to erase her. No one was mean to Derpy in that episode, even when her raw enthusiasm was breaking stuff. Rainbow Doosh is a colossal jerk to everyone except Fluttershy— and yeah, let’s all go ahead and ignore that, too, nothing to see there, move along— and even she wasn’t mean to Derpy.

I really thought this whitewashed crap was only on the iTunes version of the episode, and now I can’t ever again watch a thing that used to make me happy. Thanks, assholes.
