I think this is the fundamental reason why Equestria is such a peaceful and harmonious place; no one ever has to go hungry, no matter how poor they are. Grass may not be the awesomest food, but it’s everywhere, free, and provides a basic nutrition. I’m sure grasseaters would be looked down upon as low-class and uncouth, but we do that to people eating at McDonald’s already; what if that shitty plastic burger and pile of compressed chicken innards was always free and always available?

How many wars would people have if they knew they could feed their family by just… going over there and looking down? If all it took to keep food through the winter was spending some time in the summer bundling up grass into bales and storing it?
